Reddit crucial storage executive and momentum cache driver#
I have the default driver installed from windows. Crucial executive storage app always says that it failed to get the latest firmware. The features uses some of your system's DRAM to buffer random data writes. This happened again, the laptop boots extremely slowly, needs reboots to work properly, however this time much much sooner, as I just got this one 5 or 6 months ago. Today, Crucial updated Storage Executive, adding a new feature called Momentum Cache. Stressing it from time to time playing games like GTAV, AC:Rouge and such, however I mostly play very old and low games like Mount&Blade:Warband, or the grand strategies from Paradox. I mainly use the laptop for some Low end gaming. I have recently upgraded the ram from 8GB 4x4, to 12GB 4x8, on a Dell Latitude e6440, I have it plugged with the battery most of the time, today I have enable Momentum cache. To put all of this into perspective, I use a single SSD into the SATA port, BX500 480GB, I have it partitioned as i was told many times this doesn't affect the SSD lifetime: I was talking about the SSD that I had for about a year at that time, it started booting slowly, needing many restarts before it would work properly, eventually after the post I got a new one after the older one dropped to about 35% lifetime remaining. So, that's the second time i buy the BX500, thinking my original one was bugged or faulty from the start as I have seen people using it and said it was writing well and had a good lifespan.
